Family house in Feulen
Located in Feulen, Luxembourg, this single-family residence is a sophisticated response to a challenging slope terrain, utilizing a split-level program to harmonize the built volume with its topography. The architecture is defined by a bold, asymmetrical dual-massing that clearly distinguishes between the grounded masonry base and a striking, metal-clad upper volume. The building is organized into a recessed basement level—housing the garage and technical zones—and an elevated upper living floor. Access to the primary living quarters is achieved via a monumental exterior staircase that leads to a sheltered entrance porch. This upper level is designed for maximum transparency and connectivity, featuring expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing and a cantilevered glass balcony that offers panoramic views of the Feulen valley. In a tactical move to optimize the site, the upper floor maintains a direct level-access connection to the rear garden, allowing the interior living spaces to flow seamlessly into the private outdoor landscape. The material palette juxtaposes crisp white render on the lower floor with vertical, charcoal-grey metal siding on the upper volume, emphasizing the building’s sharp, contemporary silhouette while referencing the rhythmic lines of regional industrial vernacular.
